The Centre for engravings is a museum of engraving and printing. A unique collection, original exhibitions and an educative offer with multiple facets. A beautiful space, renovated and extended in 2011.
40 minutes from Brussels, the Center de la Gravure is a multiple place of meeting, creation and research dedicated to contemporary prints. Its astonishing collection of 12,000 works by 1,640 Belgian and foreign artists testifies to the richness of modern and contemporary art since the second half of the 20th century. A documentation center, an engraving workshop, a conference and projection room provide all audiences with access to the different facets of printed art.
The educational service develops various adapted activities: guided tours, engraving workshops, educational kits, courses for adults and children, outdoor activities and long-term educational actions.
The square and the letter C draws its inspiration from the sharp geometrical character of the building, frames, paper format and picture rails. The letter G recalls the texture and the beautiful imperfections that comes with the handcraft of engraving and printing.
Therefore, the different elements of the logo overlap with a ink bleed as an omage to the old printing processes. The result mixes in a balanced way: an intentional printing accident togheter with the institutional aspect of a museum.
